Consideration was given to a report relating to the scope of the Terms of Reference for a Community Governance Review in respect of Lickey End Parish Council.  Members were informed the Terms of Reference would specify what would be reviewed, the form which the consultation would take and outline the commencement of a twelve month timetable for the review.

 

In reaching their decision, Members paid particular attention to the outcomes of previous consultation reviews of electors within the Lickey End Parish, together with the costs incurred under the relevant legislation at the time.

 

RESOLVED that the Terms of Reference for the Community Governance Review of Lickey End Parish Council, to be prepared for approval at a future meeting of the Committee, in respect of the abolition of the parish of Lickey End and the dissolution of Lickey End Parish Council, by conducted by way of a consultation with local government electors of the parish and elected Councillors and Local Authorities, in accordance with Option 1 (paragraph 3.3) on page 4 of the report.

(1)       St. John's West (SJA) Polling Station Review

 

Consideration was given to a report which required the Committee to review an alternative location of the St. John's West Polling District (SJA) polling place in view of the proposals for the demolition of the current polling place; namely, the Market Hall, St. John Street, Bromsgrove.

 

RESOLVED that the use of the Communal Room at Willow Court, Willow Road, Bromsgrove, be approved as a permanent alternative polling place for the St. Johns West (SJA) Polling Area.

 

(2)       St. John's East (SJC) Polling Station Review

 

(The Chairman agreed that consideration be given to this item as a matter of urgency because a decision was required before the next meeting of the Committee.)

 

Consideration was given to a report which required the Committee to review an alternative temporary location of the St. John's East Polling District (SJC) polling place whist renovations and improvements are being carried out to the current polling place; namely, the Ryland Centre, New Road, Bromsgrove.

 

RESOLVED:

(a)       that the use of the United Reform Church Hall, Windsor Street, Bromsgrove, be approved as a temporary alternative polling place for the St. Johns East (SJA) Polling Area during the period in which the usual polling place would be unavailable; and

(b)       that suitable arrangements be made to cordon-off a section of the Windsor Street Short-Stay 'Pay and Display' car park for the free use of electors using the temporary polling place.
