Consideration was given to the Regional Spatial Strategy Phase Two Allocation Housing Study document relating to joint working with Worcestershire County Council, Warwickshire County Council, Redditch Borough Council and Stratford District Council.  The report outlined the proposed housing allocations and the related approach to the commissioning of a joint study.

Members expressed concern at the over-provision of housing land, the development of land by other adjacent authorities up to the boundary of Green Belt land within the Bromsgrove District and whether the larger authorities would be able to adequately represent the needs of a smaller, less urbanised area such as Bromsgrove.

RECOMMENDED: that the commencement of work on the Regional Spatial Strategy Housing Options Study be approved within the financial / budgetary constraints referred to in the report.
